Santa Clara is a city on the central coast of California. They are a big destination with a lot of personality. We took their past brand and brought it to the next level, adding a new bold look paired with even more attitude with copy.

I designed the Discover Santa Clara visitor guide alongside the destination’s website to create a seamless brand experience across print and digital. The guide builds on the site’s visual identity, blending vibrant photography, clean layouts, and engaging copy to showcase the city’s charm. Throughout, design details like the titled bar and hand-drawn accents connect the brand to the urban, fast-paced energy of the destination.
As Santa Clara’s inaugural visitor guide, this project required building the full design system for both this publication and future editions. I established new guide standards that expanded the existing brand, adding supportive type styles, graphics, and pattern work to strengthen storytelling and create a more immersive visual experience. Each spread was designed to feel distinctly “Santa Clara” while giving the content room to breathe and resonate with readers.
The guide was offered as a downloadable resource on the website and distributed throughout the destination in partner hotels, visitor-facing businesses, and the restaurants featured in the guide. This rollout strengthened partner relationships and increased visibility for key attractions across the region. Following its release, Santa Clara saw a measurable rise in visitor engagement, with an estimated 8–12% increase in local foot traffic driven by guide placement and distribution.
